Members must agree to the FOVOA Code of Conduct: Friends of Voices Of Africa is a safe space for family, friends, supporters and fans of The "Voices Of Africa" Choral & Percussion Ensemble
to come for fun, sharing and dialogue. By “safe space” it is meant a forum in which one is free from feeling “attacked”. We recognize that there are many subliminal weapons of attack that are used on a daily basis which can and does create a climate of stress.
Our goal is to make sure that everyone is comfortable here, and that no one uses this forum to associate in any way, with any member for the purpose of intimidation, incrimination, or to violate in any way another member. Because of this all comments, videos, forums and groups on the main page will be moderated
and it is suggested that each member take the responsibility of moderating the comments, videos and forums that are posted on their page. We want this site to be a safe and fun place for everyone.
Any good organization clearly understands the procedures to foster good communication. Due to the fact that so many people of various ages and backgrounds are involved in this forum, the following guidelines are suggested to help foster good communication, harmony and peace. This will build openness and trust among individuals and the groups that make up the the FOVOAcommunity.
Having stated this, by joining FOVOA community you are agreeing to the
following code of conduct:
1. Every one must complete their profile, upload a profile picture and fill in the required fields in order to be admitted as a member.
Therefore, membership status will be pending until all pertinent information is received. This information is for the express purpose of screening
individuals and making sure that all members are here for good intent.
While it is understood, that profiles are subjective and do not necessarily
represent an individual totally, we hope that each member will be completely honest in their intent in joining FOVOA community. We hope that no one will feel compelled to disguise who they really are. However, if any complaint to this issue is brought to the Network Administrator, and further investigation will be warranted. If it is verified that the individual did in fact forge their profile, they will be immediately removed from the network.
2. Anyone requesting membership must be 13 years of age or older. As this is a situation built on trust, if it becomes know that a member is under the age of 13 years, they will be immediately banned from the FOVOA community. It is strongly encouraged, that anyone under the age of 18 years of age have their parents' or guardians' permission to join. Again, this is based on trust. If any complaints to the contrary, are sent to the Network Administrator, the member will be banned.
3. All comments, videos, groups, forums and blogs are directed to the main page of the FOVOA network. Because of this, it is inadvisable to post any material that is harmful to any person, race, nationality, orientation, status or economic position. Of course this is subjective, but will be closely moderated by the Network Administrator and a determination of the harmfulness will be made. In which case the post, comment, video, forum will be removed. It is hoped that no one will purposely choose to harm anyone by their posts, however there are times when in total innocence and individual may do just that. Therefore, a warning will be issued about the content of the post and the individual will be expected to refrain from posting such content in the future. If this happens three times under same individual's account, then their membership will be discontinued.
4. No one should use email through FOVOA to harass, intimidate, violate
or stalk any member of FOVOA. Since direct email is private,FOVOA
is not able to moderate it. Therefore it is expected that each member will moderate themselves and the content of any direct emails that are sent out.
5. Members agree to refrain from using the comment section to "air out" grievances. This type of concern should be addressed directly to the individual. If the situation cannot be resolved, then the matter should be brought to the Network Administrator. At which point a determination will be made as to whether banning a member would be the appropriate thing to do.
6. If someone feels that they or the FOVOA community have been violated in anyway, it is extremely important that they report that immediately to the Network Administrator.
7. As time progresses these codes may be adjusted, updated and changed. It is important that every member of FOVOA read the updates to these codes and abide by them. If any one is found in violation of the updates, they will be given one warning. If they do not head the warning, then they will be removed from the network.

We are an Internationally acclaimed, all women's a cappella and percussion ensemble. We perform a powerfully unique blend of soul-stirring a cappella harmonies and African Percussions. The instruments we play are the Sekere (Shay-ka-ray), Sakara (Saa-ka-ra) and Sangba drums and Agogo (ah-go-go) double headed bells). Our music spans the African Diaspora and brings a powerful message about our culture and tradition as African descendant women who dare to play drums. See the Testimonies!!!!! We are available to bring our culturally rich entertainment to your place of business, school, church, university, community center social and/or cultural programs.
DECACS, Inc., a non for profit organization, is the parent organization of The "Voices Of Africa" Choral & Percussion Ensemble. We continue to reach out to others who are less fortunate year round. And especially to our seniors, and young children in schools around our country and the world. All too often these populations are not able to participate in fine cultural enrichment programming that we offer due to financial constraints. Please feel free to send a tax deductible contribution throughout the year. This contribution will go towards affording these communities the much need opportunity to experience cultural enrichment through our programs.
You may make your contribution on line through
or drop your contribution in the mail. Many wondrous thanks go out to all of our supports and we pray that you continue to support us for the many years to come.
